“Revolution of Bodies” is a protest dance piece which was created in solidarity with and in tribute to the feminist revolution in Iran and the uprising in Afghanistan in 2022. Facilitated and co-choreographed by Ghazal Ramzani and Saeed Asadsangabi, this protest dance was taught to 13 participants (dancers and none-dancers) during a 5-day intensive workshop at Uferstudios Berlin. It was performed on 8th March 2023, on International Women’s Day, during a protest organized by Alliance Feminist International Berlin. The project aimed to open up a creative space for collective grief and rage for Iranians in the diaspora and allies. The choreography, developed based on images and responses generated by the participants, evokes a collective body in a state of rebellion and mourning, reflecting attitudes of agency, anger, revolution, as well as loss, sorrow, and grief.
